ManyVids is taking the adult industry by storm with advances for both content creators and consumers alike. ManyVids is not merely a sleek site where people can view straight, gay and trans porn created by amateurs and pros both. Its mission is two-fold – to give adult content creators the best available cutting-edge tools to assist them in becoming respected, successful, independent entrepreneurs AND to transform the adult industry into a haven that promotes sex positivity and the fair treatment of adult entertainers. ManyVids CEO, Bella French, is a former cam girl and saw, firsthand, how sex workers were treated and how sex is stigmatized in society. She also saw how porn companies were taking advantage of their performers, ManyVids provides multiple resources for performers (even non-techies) to create their own income stream through selling individual vids, libraries of content, live streams with tip options, fan-site subscriptions, custom vids, store items and creating a social hub (ala Facebook) for personalities. From the onset, the site has been all-inclusive – everyone is welcome to participate in a safe place where sex is celebrated and explored. We sat down with Bella for a Cybersocket exclusive:
ManyVids is all-inclusive, with content provided by straight, LGBT and transgender community members. Why was it so important to include all groups?
At ManyVids, we are pro humans. We believe everyone should have the same rights and opportunities regardless of where they come from, their religious or spiritual beliefs, culture, sexual orientation or age. The human body is just a vehicle and it’s really who you are that matters. What you do as a career should not define who you are. There are brilliant and kind sex workers and there are very evil and pretentious doctors. No human being judge another as we are all very far from perfect. What is imperative to change is that sex workers should have the same protection and rights as everyone else. We should want to protect other living beings at all times as we are all part of the big family of humans.
What sets ManyVids apart from other content sites in the market?
ManyVids is a very positive, respectful, and uplifting platform. That is very important for us. We thrive on providing our MV Stars the best possible cutting-edge tools and more. What really differentiates us is how much we care about our content creators. Everything we do is to help them and give them as much as we can. We are not here to generate income, we are here to help improve people’s lives, to make a difference, that’s what we work on at MV day in, day out.
How did you get into the business?
I was a camgirl for 3 years and during those years I was shocked to discover how this industry was lacking in tools to help their performers. I’m not very techie, and because of that, it was challenging for me to find ways to send videos to my fans, who would often have to wait way too long to receive my vids. It was not ideal, to say the least. I could not understand why none of the larger and established companies were not doing anything about it. These companies needed the success of ManyVids.com to wake them up, as many are now copy & pasting our platform.
Being a camgirl myself gave me a unique perspective and understanding of how it truly feels to be a camgirl, especially how difficult it can be emotionally and what tools you need in order to succeed. I understood how it feels to be a cam model and all the crazy, underestimated work it takes to be good at it. While I was camming, I was continually studying other cam models and learning from them. The cam and clip world that gave me the knowledge I needed to give back to the adult industry as a CEO.
What are some of the biggest obstacles facing entrepreneurs in the adult industry today?
Creating an ethical Business. Let’s discuss the essence of what a business should be. At its core, the business should be focused on improvements rather than profits. Money is the byproduct of what a business should really be doing. At ManyVids, we are not selling vids. We are trying to change how the world views sex work and sex workers by empowering them.
Our desire is to give them all the respect, confidence, and tools they deserve to reach their goals and more. Internet adult content creators are the next demographic of future millionaires and the MV Team will be at their side doing everything we can to make this happen. Once sex workers will be empowered and successful, we will start seeing a real change in people’s perception of sex workers.
How has the adult industry changed the most over the past few years?
Right now, it’s all about clip sites and fan sites. That’s a massive change from the tube site era. We are being bombarded from every angle this year and it’s great. It makes us move faster and I hope it will never stop. The desire to improve and be the best we can be is in our blood at MV, it’s what we do and who we are.
We have tremendous respect for our competition as we understand how operating a business is challenging. The respect we have for them is what keeps us on our toes. It does not matter what style of company it is, or what they do, we are always on the lookout.
There are so many facets and outlets to ManyVids – from the social networking capabilities to podcasts to Live Cams. How do you keep all of these elements so perfectly capturing the brand and mission of ManyVids?
Unfortunately, or fortunately, depending on where you stand, there is a lot of work to be done in the adult industry on so many levels. From a technological perspective, there still remain tremendous opportunities. We’ve only scratched the surface of what we can accomplish with ManyVids and that notion is very exciting.
We will continue to push out new features and by doing so, our competitors will improve their products as well. This is a fantastic thing for adult performers, and it makes me very happy. More competition means that the standards of our industry will continue to rise. I love competition, I think it’s one of my favorite aspects of operating a business.
When it comes to respect and protection of adult performers, the work ahead of us is immense. I am in this industry for the long run and whatever it takes, we will get it done. The day society will recognize the importance of sex workers and they will be respected as successful independent business entrepreneurs, I will retire. I am hopeful it will happen in my lifetime.
