Wolf Mendelsohn takes a look at some of the most followed gay adult performers on Twitter.

Who are the most popular gay porn stars on Twitter, and why? When we began comparing over 200 of Twitter’s most followed gay adult performers, we thought we might be able to identify some common traits that were contributing to their social media success. However, what we ultimately found was an incredibly diverse group of men who often had vastly different social media habits.

As we expected, some of today’s most visible gay porn stars topped the list. But alongside them were lesser known stars, guys who hadn’t performed in a long time, and even guys who were retired. One performer hadn’t posted to his porn star Twitter account in years – and yet his following has continued to expand.

So what were we able to deduce? That porn fans can be very loyal – and that they often view performers as more than simply sex objects. It might be an illusion, but fans feel a strong connection to their favorite performers – and it’s a connection that appears to endure.

Below are 17 of the most followed gay porn stars on Twitter, along with their follower counts (as of Sept. 1st, 2015.) By the time you read this, some of these numbers probably will have increased. Knowing what the counts were on a particular date is still useful, however – because you can compare it to the counts on subsequent dates to get a rough idea of how quickly each person’s following is growing.
