Artemy Laszlo sits down for some Q&A with Tayte Hanson from Cocky Boys.
Cocky Boys Exclusive Tayte Hanson is now one of the studio’s most popular models. Although he’s a relative newcomer, there was something special about Tayte that immediately captivated porn fans. Tayte’s stunning features are one aspect of his appeal, but there’s also something incredibly likable and familiar about Tayte that is hard to define. Although still young, the 25-year-old college grad has already danced professionally all over the world, acted on stage and in films, worked as a mainstream model, survived cancer, begun writing a book, and become a top gay adult performer – and his new goal is to become an advocate for smart sex education. Always humble and open, Tayte kindly sat down this month to answer some of our burning questions. For more info, be sure to follow Tayte on Twitter.
Where did you grow up?
I grew up in Roswell, New Mexico. Better known as the land of the aliens. It was small and very Christian/Republican, so I was in the closet and pretty fearful of being gay until I was 17 (when I came out.) I spent lots of time riding horses, being alone on the ranch, and playing sports. Overall, it was a pretty swell place to grow up. I learned a lot from the land and had amazing parents, so that all helped.
Childhood aspirations?
I wanted to be a marine biologist! I used to attend fish camp and I took every biology course possible. Every Christmas I would ask my family for Legos (to build robots) and for kits to dissect sharks and such. Totally normal… I love everything about the ocean except for the beach!
Something fans don’t know?
I’m a pretty open book, but one thing people may not know is that my favorite activity in the world is fishing – and that I hope to one day own a commercial fishing vessel.
Other jobs you’ve tried?
I’ve worked the projector at an old movie theatre, been Asst. Manager at a custard shop, done costume and make-up design for films, danced internationally, acted on stage/screen, been an English tutor, assisted in a marine biology lab, produced/directed a film, written a book, modeled, taught yoga, been a personal trainer, and done porn.
Non-adult projects?
I’m acting in a new TV series at the moment; I’m in the process of writing my first book; and I’m continuing to work as a model. One thing that I haven’t done yet that I’m really itching to get into is some nightlife performance art!
Most unusual sex spot?
Church. I was 15 and I had sex with an altar boy between pews while I was waiting for a friend who was leading Sunday school service. There were about 50 kids in the chapel that day so we were very quiet and sneaky. It was one of the biggest adrenaline rushes I’ve ever had.

How did you get started in adult entertainment?
One fateful night, I was dancing atop a go-go box when Jake Jaxson and RJ Sebastian approached me and asked if I was interested in the adult industry. At that time, I said, “No.” Then three years later, I met Levi Karter at a nightclub. At that point circumstances had changed and the time was right for me to say, “Yes.”
How did you become a Cocky Boy?
After reconnecting with JJ [Jake Jaxson] through Levi Karter I entered the “So You Wanna Be a Cocky Boy?” contest. Thankfully, I won. Cocky Boys is truly the only company I can see myself working with, for many reasons. It’s a tight-knit group and they have a condom-sex-only rule, so it was a perfect fit for me.
Your favorite video shoot so far?
I really loved shooting Answered Prayers: The Actor. I had been an actor for many years, but having the opportunity to assume a character and to fuck while embodying that character was really unique. In 99.9% of my work I simply have sex as I would do in my day-to-day life, but on this occasion I got to explore new parts of myself while finding the character. I also loved being a part of the production process for weeks instead of just a day.

Do you get much fan mail?
I get a fair amount of fan mail and I answer it all myself. I love handwritten letters, so if any fans want to send some love that way I always respond (usually electronically, since postage adds up.) I’ve also received some wonderful gifts from my Amazon wish list. That was something I never expected, but it has been a really special treat (and it has also improved my personal wardrobe and made my house pretty badass!) My rule is that if someone is willing to expend energy on me, then I had better have the respect to give them some energy back – even if it’s just a thank you. Everyone deserves that respect.

Long-term dreams and aspirations?
I have so many goals and aspirations. I graduated from college four years ago, but I’ve been pursuing my goals ever since I graduated from high school – and I’ve actually been able to accomplish a handful of them. I’ve danced professionally all over the world and I’ve worked in some of the craziest places on earth (hanging from a helicopter in Austria, on the side of a glacier, etc.) I’ve also shared love, experienced some incredibly intimate moments, come close to death, realized the importance of living in the moment, and found a lot of inner peace. I often wonder what else there is that might make my life “better,” but the answer is that nothing can make it “better” because I’m a pretty lucky man and I’ve been fortunate enough to be able to pursue and accomplish so many things. My next big goal is to use my work to help others. Advocating for smart sex and helping to educate people is the answer to that for me. I want to be one of the voices that will help to teach the upcoming generation of young people how to be smart when they get into the sack and how to have a healthy, sex positive future.
Your life, 5 years from now?
I could talk about this all day because I’m a big dreamer. However, I’ll give you a short, ten year list to decipher: Dance creation. Festival creator. TV host. Home owner. Pet owner. Father. Husband. Collaborator for creative adult works.
What are your hobbies?
I’m big on the outdoors. I love fishing, hiking, boating, and most sports. I also enjoy photography, writing, poetry, making anything with my hands, interior decorating, and cooking!
Are you single right now?
I am indeed! I have so much on my plate at the moment and I’m truly happy to be living life to the fullest. If the right guy comes along and our energies mesh, I won’t hesitate to hop aboard the “Taken” train. But for now, single Tayte is happy Tayte. That said, I’m always down for a good date and I love learning about people’s life stories.

What traits generally attract you to someone?
Physically, the things that I’m most immediately attracted to are eyes, teeth, jawline, foreskin, and feet. I know, it’s a very strange combo! Intellectually, I’m attracted to ambition, humor, a sense of adventure, and the ability to not take any of my shit!

Best thing about working in adult entertainment?
I love the people I have met and had the chance to work with.
Challenges to working in adult entertainment?
I guess the thing that bothers me the most is the misconceptions that many people have. One common misconception is that I got started in adult entertainment because I was starving for money and was willing to do anything for a buck. That’s the furthest thing from the truth. The fact that so many people (both inside and outside the industry) make this assumption really frustrates me. I suppose it comes with the territory, though, so I’ve just learned to smile and nod. The smartest thing I’ve learned lately is that silence is one of the greatest tools someone can utilize. Anyone can scream, but it takes such power to be silent. There are other common misconceptions that bother me, too, such as: “Oh you do porn, you must be stupid”, “You must be a sex fiend”, and “You must have a ton of diseases.” Education goes a long way, folks.
Do you have any pets?
Not anymore. I want to have two cats (Sphinxes), but they cost a bit more than what I’m willing to pay at the moment.
Did you ever do anything as a kid that got you in trouble?
I was a pretty good kid. I did spray paint the back fence of my house with my sister once. It got me spanked pretty good!
Which mainstream celebrities do think are the hottest?
Joseph Gordon Levitt. Always and forever! If I could just cuddle that man, I could die so happily! He has a nerdy, adorable, yet still so handsome vibe that I just melt for. And let’s face it, put a pair of glasses on him and he becomes the ideal nerd. I’m also in complete love with Angelina Jolie.
Do you watch much TV?
I watch TV selectively. I play games more often than I watch TV. My favorite shows are Grimm, Parks and Recreation, Broad City, South Park, and Rupaul’s Drag Race.
What kind of music do you like?
I love it all. When it comes to music I have absolutely no boundaries!
Are you much of a reader?
I read at least two books a month. Reading has always been a huge part of my life. Some of my favorite books include The Giving Tree (Yay, children’s books!), The Four Agreements, Delivering Happiness, The Way of the Peaceful Warrior, Harry Potter, and Lord of the Rings.

What’s a typical day like for you?
I wake up before sunrise (or at least try to), respond to all of my emails, cook breakfast and make lunch, check in on social media, go to dance class or rehearsal, go to train at work, work out, run errands, cook dinner, do a cam show (I’m getting back into it, so come visit me on cam at Tayte Hanson Live), and then sleep.
Any fantasies that you’d like to fulfill on camera?
I really want to have an orgy on camera. I usually like intimate, one-on-one sex. However, an orgy on camera sounds amazing. I think it’s much better in theory, though – because I’m sure I would get onto the set and have tons of guidelines and hate it. There are lots of Cockyboys I want to film with, both new and old: Asher Hawk, Bravo Delta, Frankie V, Jasper Robinson, and a handful more.

Any funny behind-the-scenes stories?
During the Justin Matthews shoot we were having sex outside, on top of a log. We were fucking so aggressively that I got pushed backwards off the log and onto the forest floor, naked. It was… interesting!
A life experience that had a profound effect on you?
Obviously my old health issues have been huge life changers for me, but I’d say the biggest event that has changed my life was the first dance class I ever took! It opened the doors to my dance career, acting career, and much more – which all led me to where I am now.

What are you afraid of?
Failure. And sea turtles. It might sound strange, but sea turtles are really the only physical things that I’m afraid of in this world. The fear of failure is something I’m constantly working on, but it hasn’t held me back much in life. But I do see him come into my life on occasion and have to take care.
Recent life lessons?
Three major lessons that have made my life much easier during the past few years:
1) You cannot please everyone. Some people will love you and some people will hate you. All you have to do is to be 100% yourself. At the end of the day, the only person you can count on to be there for you is yourself. Learn to love yourself fully and completely and you will never be lonely.
2) No one will care how amazing you are at something if you don’t have a good work ethic.

3) Don’t be a fucking dick.
