Sex is a Joke:Gay Porn Parodies

Keith Lemaitre checks out some recent gay porn parody releases from a number of different studios.

In the straight porn world, porn parodies of mainstream films have always been a popular genre. There have been straight porn parodies of countless movies, TV shows, and books such as Roseanne, The Simpsons, The Exorcist, Punk’d, Curb Your Enthusiasm, E.T., Tron, Star Trek, Scooby Doo, The Addams Family, A Nightmare on Elm Street, and the list goes on. When it comes to catchy parody titles, some of our favorite straight ones are A Tale of Two Titties; Men in Blacks; You’ve Got Male Genitalia!; Honey, I Fucked the Kids! (and Honey, I Blew… Everybody); Hung Wankenstein; and Night of the Giving Head. In the gay porn world, porn parodies have enjoyed more modest success, so only a few studios specialize in them.

One reason for the smaller number of gay porn parodies is simply that the gay porn market is smaller than its straight counterpart. You might expect parodies to be expensive to make, but even low budget parodies can be very successful. For example, check out the trailer for Gthai Movie 15: Jurassic Porn, a very funny gay porn parody of Jurassic World with some truly funny moments and surprisingly good production quality.

It would be fun to see gay porn parodies (or non-comedic homages) to Star Trek, Pokemon, Halloween, Bones, Aliens, NCIS, Arrow, and Glee – just to name a few. But rather than wishing for what we don’t have, let’s look at the great parodies that we do have.

MANVILLE ENTERTAINMENT
In recent years, Manville Entertainment has been the only major gay porn studio to dedicate itself exclusively to gay porn parodies. Their most recent release is Drilligan’s Island, and other recent releases have included I Dream of Twinkie, Twinky and the Bear, Green Lantern Is Gay, and Batman and Robin.

DOMINIC FORD
Back in 2010, Dominic Ford released his porn comedy Whorrey Potter and the Sorcerer’s Balls. The film was offered on DVD, 3D Blu-ray disc, and digital download (in both 3D and 2D.) It marked a number of firsts in gay porn, including the fact that it was the first feature length 3D gay porn release. It was nominated for 12 Grabby awards, which was a record. More recently, Dominic Ford has scored another hit with his long-running reality porn parody series So You Think You Can Fuck?

JET SET MEN
The popularity of gay porn parodies ebbs and flows, but for many years Jet Set was one of the main torch bearers for the genre. Jet set released a series of hits that included America’s Next Hot Bottom, 21 Hump Street, Tosh.Hole, To Fuck A Predator, Jersey Score 1 and 2, and The Hole.

MORE PARODIES

The Twinklight series from Gay Life Network started as a feature with a DVD release, but since then more scenes have continued to be released. First came scenes that didn’t make it into the final cut due to space limitations, and now brand new scenes are being released every two weeks to keep the fantasy alive for fans. Twinklight is unique in that it’s not a farce like many parodies, but more of an ode to erotic vampire films and TV shows.

Back in 2006, Latino Fan Club was ahead of its time with its parody title Super Barrio Bros.. Sadly, we haven’t seen many game-themed porn parodies since.

In 2013, Staxus.com released a Spiderman parody called Web of Sperm. In the same year, Phoenixxx released The Real House Husbands of Miami. A decade before that in 2000, C1R released Dawson’s Crack. That same year, Miami Studios released The Twin Dicks of Hazzard. The Dukes of Hazzard had also been parodied in 2000, when Eon Films released The Dicks of Hazzard.
