One-On-One With Kris Evans

This month’s cover model, Kris Evans, has appeared in a string of popular Bel Ami films such as Pinups: Oversized, Cocky Friends, and Step By Step: Jean-Daniel Chagall.

    In places like L.A, porn star notoriety is often traded upon as something of value. But in Hungary – where many  “gay” porn stars are really straight – attitudes towards porn work tend to be more low-key. Take the boys of Bel Ami, for example. Despite being admired globally, most of them actually live very unaffected lives. This month’s cover model, Kris Evans, has appeared in a string of popular Bel Ami films such as Pinups: Oversized, Cocky Friends, and Step By Step: Jean-Daniel Chagall. With his flawless physique and down-to-earth charm, Kris has developed a huge fan-base. Until very recently, however, Kris was still working full-time as a police officer in his small hometown in Hungary. But when someone purposely exposed his BelAmi work to his police colleagues, it created a national scandal that eventually forced his resignation. Already popular before the scandal broke, Kris suddenly became Bel Ami’s most controversial and talked-about young star. We recently spoke with Kris about the controversy, his work for BelAmi, and his future plans.

WHO REVEALED YOUR BEL AMI WORK TO YOUR POLICE COLLEAGUES?
We don’t know for sure, but we believe a fan found out about it and then “outed” me to them. The story was published in a regional newspaper and was subsequently picked up by national tabloids and then the television news. I live in a small town of just 10,000 people, so news travels fast.

MANY PEOPLE GROW UP WANTING TO BECOME POLICE OFFICERS, SO IT MUST HAVE BEEN A DIFFICULT DECISION TO RESIGN.
I wasn’t really given a choice… Up to that point, I had thought of my police work as a lifetime career, since government jobs are very secure. I didn’t want to be famous [in reference to doing porn work.] I just wanted to make money.

DO YOU MISS BEING A POLICEMAN? 
Yes, because my police colleagues are also my friends. I’m still torn between staying true to my convictions and giving in to pressures from family.  It feels like I’m in the eye of the storm, but it wouldn’t make sense to stop at this point.

HAS THERE BEEN A BRIGHT SIDE TO ALL OF THE CONTROVERSY? 
I had told my family that I could never live the life I wanted to live as a policeman, but their expectations always put a lot of pressure on me. The bright side is that I don’t have to lie anymore. This turn of events was very freeing, in a way. I’ve told my family and my girlfriend that I want to continue working with Bel Ami. When I was just doing it part-time, my porn work was already generating four times more income than my police work. If I do porn work full-time, I could earn even more.

HOW WOULD YOU LIKE YOUR CAREER WITH BEL AMI TO DEVELOP?
I’d like to shoot with them for the next two or three years. I’m doing my best to convince my family that it doesn’t make sense for me to give up before I’ve achieved my goals, because our country is in the middle of an economic crisis. This is the best option for me – and I actually like it. 

HAS YOUR PORN WORK HELPED YOU TO GROW AS A PERSON?
I’ve started to see myself in a very different way. It has given me a lot more self-confidence and it has opened me up to a larger world. I’ve grown up a lot and learned to see the world through a new lens. I knew this life existed, but I was never a part of it. It’s a great environment for me, and I find it preferable to the one I was living in before.

ARE YOU STILL LIVING IN YOUR HOMETOWN?
Yes, I’m still living at home. BelAmi told me that I needed to take a few months to figure out what I wanted to do next.  I’m a slow decision-maker and I don’t want to be too harsh with the people who love me, so I need to work it out on my own terms. It took me two years to decide to do my first video shoot after BelAmi had made me the initial offer. [Laughs] Hopefully this decision won’t take me quite as long!

DO YOU THINK IT’S FAIR THAT AN OFFICER’S PRIVATE PURSUITS SHOULD AFFECT THEIR CAREER? HAS THERE BEEN A BRIGHT SIDE TO THE CONTROVERSY?

BEL AMI HAS A REPUTATION FOR TAKING GOOD CARE OF ITS MODELS. WERE THEY SUPPORTIVE WHEN THE CONTROVERSY BEGAN?
Oh, yes – very. The trouble began just a week before BelAmi’s huge film shoot in South Africa. I was in bad shape mentally, so I didn’t think I should go. I didn’t feel I could do a good job. My head just wasn’t in it and I knew it was expensive for them, but they still wanted me to come along just to relax and to think about everything, to talk to the other models, etc. It was a chance for me to clear my head and get some perspective on everything. It made me feel a lot better.

WHERE ARE YOU LIVING NOW?
