When Fashion Meets Porn

        As one of the newer companies on the gay porn scene, Black Scorpion Entertainment made a splash this year by nabbing 18 GayVN award nominations. In just two years, the company (run by porn star Rafael Alencar) has rocked the industry with innovative, high quality titles. From sex in a fancy Manhattan restaurant in Hunger to a desert island shipwreck fantasy in Man Island, Black Scorpion has shown that they are dedicated to telling unique porn stories.        
        “We always want to pay attention to detail, from the box to the sets to the camera work,” said Marketing Director James Ian from their offices in New York. “We spend a little more on the models and every movie has been shot in at least seven days. We don’t want the models to look bored. We want to keep them interested in each other and looking like they’re enjoying one another.”
        Black Scorpion films often employ unique locations, such as the yoga retreat in hilly southern Washington used for Cuma Sutra or the mansion off the Gulf Coast where they filmed Dreams of Rafael.
        One of the company’s biggest coup’s was signing 33-year-oldArgentine fashion model Dionisio Heiderscheid (aka D.O.) as an exclusive late last year. He’s been on magazine covers around the world and has already starred in Black Scorpion’s blockbuster Obsession of D.O.. Obsession also features Alencar (who has also modeled in nearby Brazil) in the role ofthe obsessed stalker. Art imitating life?
        Although Dionisio Heiderscheid is a beautiful and elegant name, the “D.O.” nickname is much easier for English-speaking audiences to remember. And remember him they have. This year D.O. received four award nominations, including Best Actor and Best Cum Shot for Sex Hiker and Best Top – plus the prestigious Performer of the Year award.
        It can be hard to catch up with D.O. these days. He’s been spending much of his time shuttling from one photography shoot to the next for a charity book called The Different Sides of D.O. that will raise money for HIV/AIDS awareness. For the project, 20 world-renowned photographers have been invited to photograph D.O. and have all been given carte blanche to capture him in any way they see fit. The photographers involved in the project have done everything from lighting design for the Olympics to cover photos for Vogue. He’s scheduled to do shoots in San Francisco and L.A. in the next few months, which will almost complete the book (although they still need five more prestigious photographers.) Say what you will about porn, but it definitely hasn’t hurt D.O.’s modeling career.
        Recently D.O. posed for photographer Rick Day on a high-profile photoshoot for Rufskin that was truly down and dirty just check out Oh La La Paris Blog. “The photos look great and are shocking,” D.O. says. “I met Rick Day while working for my own book. He started promoting me and we did the August issue of Genre Magazine, the cover of Manner Magazine in Germany and Pier Magazine in Italy. Then he called me again to be on his book, which will be done March.”
        “When I decided to start doing porn, I knew the fashion industry would be mad about it. But for my surprise, I’m working more than ever in the States and Europe because the gay consumer is very strong around the world – and my image is now stronger as well,” he says. “Porn is not an issue anymore for the developed countries. Everyone has sex, everyone buys clothes and food, everyone is a human being, but [it] depends on how you do the things. That’s why I signed a contract with Black Scorpion. They work hard to give the porn industry a better quality.”
        Although clean-shaven in his modeling, D.O. sports a day or so’s worth of stubbly 5 o’clock shadow in his porn. “When you’re modeling, you have to shave it all the time. I hate that, plus everybody loves the look – I hope you like it too!” Yes, indeed.
        D.O. keeps in touch with fans on his blog and he’s also breaking into directing with an audition line called Sex Sessions. D.O. is directing these guys and it’s very voyeuristic. There are three cameras, with one on just him watching the guys,” says Ian, who plans to release Sex Sessions Parts 1, 2 and 3by March. “It’s part of our Black Ratline – and in each one D.O. is getting better as a director.”
        For about a year the Black Scorpion line has been available for streaming at Male Flixxx and Ian says their titles often make it to the top of the “most-watched” lists. The increased notoriety has also meant that a lot more guys are now asking to audition. “Maybe we will find some more exclusives for the company, but we don’t want to sign just anyone,” Ian says.
        D.O. is looking forward to attending the GayVN Awards this year – but not just because of his own award nominations. He’s also very proud of the nominations received by Black Scorpion. “We are a very young company and we got 18 nominations– so I think that means we are going in the right direction.”
