The physical camaraderie of team sports — with all its patting, hugging and grunting — closely resembles sexual intimacy. There’s the locker room promise of guys stripping off their workout gear and hitting the showers after practice, plus erotic sports massages, jockstraps, bandages, shorts, and Speedos. Aside from all the straight talk and bravado on display, the main appeal of Yates’ work stems from the skill and glee with which he instructs and corrupts these curious young men, turning them on to brand new forms of sexual expression.
The raw, working class appeal of British hooligans, hoodies and lads is showcased at Triga, where the amateur aesthetic of Dirk Yates is cranked up a notch with foul-mouthed, violence-prone “straight” men in releases like Auditions: Sporting Heroes UK/EU and Scally Soccer Orgy. For skate punks and Euro footballers, Eurocreme is king with titles like Skater Boy, World Rugby Orgy, and World Soccer Orgy. Set in Amsterdam and the Czech Republic, these films focus on guys with smooth, lean builds. Their slight bodies don’t always jive with the types of sports they are supposed to play, but they are well endowed and game for a variety of sexual activities, including detailed verbal foreplay. Beefier, hairier jocks who are perhaps a bit more realistic can be found at Jockstrapping, which offers photos and links to blogs as well as jockstrap-themed DVDs.
