There’s nothing like going online and reading about conspiracy theories for a few hours to really get you spooked. Whether or not you believe in these theories isn’t as important as to the why of their existence. If the old cliché is true then even the most outlandish theories must have a little truth to them. Could there really be alien life already living among us? Is there a shadow government? These wild theories have been around for quite some time, but before we write them off as lunacy or bored geeks trying to fill the empty void of their romantic free lives, we thought we’d go exploring and look at some of the most popular conspiracy theories out there.
One of the greatest tragedies in American history is also at the center of some of the most chilling
accusations of our time. There are those who believe that before 9/11 the American government already had plans to invade Afghanistan, with
MSNBC reporting on May 16, 2002 that President Bush had received plans to undergo a worldwide war against Al Qaeda two days before the attack.
Over at
9/11 Truth you’ll find an article that asks a long list of questions that have never been fully answered by the government. One of the claims is that the U.S. defenses were deliberately disabled by military exercises — known as war games — planned long before the attacks on 9/11 that were being conducted by
NORAD which included a simulated hijacking and a small aircraft crashing into a government building. It is thought that this helped to throw the various agencies responsible for responding — NORAD, FAA, Pentagon, and U.S.A.F. — into a state of confusion.
Not helping the conspiracy theory rumors is how the buildings, especially the WTC 7, collapsed raising speculation that they were brought down by
controlled demolitions. There are several people who claimed hearing explosions before the last building collapsed. Incidentally, cleanup was so quick no one was ever able to examine the steel.
Although the prospect of government involvement in 9/11 is a serious accusation, theorists do have a reason to be suspicious. In July of 1947 strange debris was recovered near Roswell, New Mexico. Originally the office of the 509th Bomb group from the Roswell Army Field admitted to having come into possession of an unidentified flying disc. The object was reportedly transferred to a commanding officer in Fort Worth, Texas where it was described as a weather balloon, and the story was quickly forgotten.
Walter Haut, the public information officer for the base, had originally stated that he was not a witness to events from that day, and only relayed information as told to him by other officers. In 2002 he signed an affidavit that revealed he had played a bigger role in the cover-up. In it he admits to having seen an egg-shaped craft about 15 feet long and several small bodies about four feet tall with large heads, speculated to be the
alien race known as
Greys. In a pre-arranged deal it was decided that the information was not to be released until after his death, which occurred in December of 2005. It is believed the events at Roswell led to an
exchange program with extraterrestrials from 1965-1978.
Although many of the theories out there can be easily denied one that can’t are the various secret organizations composed of some of the most influential people on the planet. Among these groups is
Skull and Bones an organization so secret that when Senator John Kerry was asked what it meant that he and George W. Bush were both bonesmen competing for the Presidency Kerry replied, “Not much because it’s a secret.”
Bilderberg is another group that has invitation only conferences and has included Bill and Hillary Clinton, Tony Blair, Gerald Ford, Collin Powell, Prince Charles, and Donald Rumsfeld to name a few. Like the Illuminati, or the Freemasons most people believe these groups are decoys for the greatest conspiracy of all — a New World Order (NWO).
NWO refers to the concept of one political body making, enforcing and interpreting international law. Some speculate a shadow world government has been manipulating historic as well as recent events in their goal to attain such an event. The NWO Mythology is diverse, weaving together Freemasonry, Satanism, aliens — you name it. The common markers that many believe point to a NWO are the events of 9/11, the initiation of the
Patriot Act, and the FDA approval in 2002 of a VeriChip microchip implant considered to be the beginning sign that a totalitarian government might be a real possibility in the not-too-distant future. Theorists believe this would prove the Book of Revelation prophecy regarding the Mark of the Beast.
