Masculine meaty men are back — in a nasty sweaty hairy armpit of a way.
"I've hated seeing guys who shave their pubic hair or shave their armpits or legs or even trim their eyebrows," said longtime porn director Paul Barresi, who has directed for Pleasure Productions, Jet Set, Studio 2000, Regiment, Pacific Sun, HIS Video, U.S. Male and many others. "It's not masculine, so if a guy comes to my set like that, I send him home."
Baressi's characteristic military and daddy videos focus on a lot of raunch, and he's been promoting that style and look since he was in gay and bisexual videos himself in the 1970s, when he helped define the look of macho rough-talking guys with mustaches and hairy chests. But now, a handsome and rugged guy pushing 60, Baressi still knows what's hot, and is now watching the gay porn trend follow what he's already known for a long time: "Men like to watch men have hot raw, raunchy sex."
Titan Media and Hothouse have always cornered the market on raw sweaty manly sex. Titan developed a line called Manplay while Hothouse has their Club Inferno in the Dungeon on their site.
Then, Chris Ward united with J.D. Slater and Michael Brandon and created Raging Stallion, which continued their focus on incredible raw man-sex, especially with Brandon's own Monster Bang Video line, their Fisting Central and HairyBoyz.com of sex titles.
Raging Stallion's latest line is gearing up for a new kind of raunch with the title Jock Itch directed by recent superstar Jake Deckard under the Screaming Eagle XXX line. In addition to being nominated for GayVN's Best Actor (for his portrayal of Sgt. Houle in Grunts) Deckard is also nominated for Performer of the Year. His directorial debut, Ink Storm was nominated for Best Fetish Video, and the tattooed sex-travaganza has a good shot at winning it.
With his new line, Deckard said, "I'm looking to develop a new audience [for] bad-ass young men who feel they aren't part of the scope of big porn companies and usually don't buy their stuff because it isn't cool. I'd like to make a real mark on these guys' sexuality, turn them on and give them something to think about and lust over for a good long time."
For Jake Deckard guys in sweaty, smelly sports gear became a personal fetish for him. "I love jocks, socks, cleats, pads, all that shit, and while I was busy filming this video, it's really developed into a full-on fetish for me." He plans to debut his "Jock Itch" on March 28 at the Black Party in Manhattan. Logan McCree, Scott Tanner, Steve Cruz, Tyler Saint and Deckard himself are among the stars in it.
Ward, of Raging Stallion, points to "Ink Storm" as one of the company's biggest hits of the year and credits the overwhelming success of Grunts in part to Deckard, who learned a lot behind the scenes with the Raging Stallion team. "He has that rare gift of really knowing what makes good erotica," Ward said. "He has learned all aspects of the industry, from acting to camera work, to casting, to directing, to editing and even to marketing. Jake Deckard is here to stay, and I am very glad he is associated with our studio."
Unfortunately, this may be Deckard's swan-song of performing in front of the camera, saying, "I am ready to move away from being a 'star' and I couldn't have been handed a better opportunity to show what I'm capable of other than Grunts and the best part of being the director is being able to choose your own co-stars. If you see me with anybody in a scene, you can bet we both wanted to be there."
At Falcon, one of their newest titles is Rough Play about a tough coach who abuses his young rugby team on the field, in the gym, in the locker room and all over their bodies. Lots of new rugged Falcon exclusives such as Cal Skye, T.J. Hawke, Tristan Jaxx and others star in this sizzling film.
Over at the Chi Chi LaRue camp, the Projex line has wonderfully nasty titles such as Military Ass Spankers, Sex Club Initiation, Ass Cracks, Aching for Punishment, Sex Toy and many more. Chi Chi proves that safe sex can be hot, and that raunchy doesn't have to mean unsafe.
It's all rough and real, which seems to be a strong trend in the porn industry right now. It's not for the squeamish or faint of heart, so some of you may just want to stick with your Bel Ami boys.
